There are so many great events and programs happening in our Ward! Find all that have been submitted to my office at the bottom of this newsletter, or visit the events page on my website.
I have added an “Event Submission” page to my website. By clicking this link, or visiting the events page on my website, you can directly fill out all the information needed and upload a poster or image. My team will then confirm your event. Please ensure to have your event information in by Wednesday and it will be added to my website and will be run in my weekly newsletter every Friday until the event has occurred.
The Metcalfe Client Service Center is open on Tuesdays between 8:30AM to 4:00PM. Available through appointment or walk-ins are the following services.
WARD NEWS
As far as weeks go, this was one of the quieter ones, but that makes it no less productive!
Monday afternoon I was able to visit another amazing local business right here in our own back yard. TG Athletics is a locally owned and operated business by Tony Greco that combines a wealth of knowledge and personal experience that spans over decades and continues today by inspiring the next generation of athletes no matter what the goal is.
Personal training with mind, body and soul makes this business stand out from the rest along with his incredible team of trainers. It was a pleasure to not only sit and chat with him about his journey to this level, but also to present him with a certificate from my office.
The next day I got to host my first Open Door of 2024! As I’m sure many of you are aware, Tuesday afternoons are my favourite part the week. It’s my personal belief that these face-to-face meetings are incredibly beneficial for the community and it’s my honour to be able to host these drop ins.
I got to meet with so many people this Tuesday during our 2024 kick off, and what a start to the year. Whether you were just dropping in to say hi or coming to me with concerns in the area it was great to see everybody!
Through the rest of the week I met with both City Staff, including the General Manager of Public Works, and our various Community Associations and Optimist Clubs to discuss various requests and upcoming projects throughout the ward. I can't wait to watch these plans become a reality!
While I appreciated that these past two weeks were a nice, slow, and gentle ease into the new year, I am looking forward to how busy next week will be with all the travel, meetings, and events that are planned.
COMMUNITY PROGRAMS & REGISTRATION
As always, there are so many different events and programs that are happening in our Ward! Many of them can be found at the end of this newsletter, shared on our Facebook Page, or on our website.
Our local Community Associations and Optimist Clubs have been hard at work putting together fun and exciting Winter Carnivals for our various communities throughout our Ward. Be sure to check both our events and their Facebook pages to see what events and activities they have planned!
The Ottawa Public Library has added multiple children's programs for 2024 in addition to their regularly scheduled programs. Take a look at their website to see what they're offering!
Don't forget to pre-order your flower baskets from the Greely Lions Club! These baskets are supplied locally by the Richmond Nursery and they are always gorgeous. As an added bonus, 100% of the profits go towards supporting Greely Lions charitable initiatives. Orders may be placed anytime before the end of January but all orders must be paid for by 31 March 2024.

SOUTH NATION CONSERVATION ANNOUNCEMENTS
New Watershed Advisory Committee
Do you have an interest in conservation and stewardship of our land? South Nation Conservation is forming a new Watershed Advisory Committee which will be made up of 24 members from various watershed municipalities!
The former committees at South Nation (forestry, fish and wildlife, communications, and clean water) will have most of their duties transferred to this one new Watershed Advisory Committee. If you are interested, you can view the application and apply to the committee here and you can send resumes and application forms to ksmith@nation.on.ca.
Public Consultations: Natural Hazard Mapping
South Nation Conservation is holding public consultations on their natural hazard mapping, inviting residents to attend virtual open houses in February 2024. Two of these mapped areas are part of the City of Ottawa: the Bearbrook Watershed and the Castor River Watershed.
The Bearbrook Watershed meeting will be online on February 21st from 6:00-7:00PM, and the Castor River meeting will be online on February 26th from 6:00PM-7:00PM. If you are interested in learning about the mapping project and would like to learn more or ask questions to SNC staff, please keep an eye on https://www.nation.on.ca/consultations for meeting link details.
COMMUNITY ECONOMIC GRANTS FUNDING OPEN
The City of Ottawa is now accepting applications for the Community Economic Development Funding Program. Grants are available for non-profit organizations that are starting projects focused on creating jobs, creating businesses, and developing entrepreneurship and employability skills. Successful applicants will demonstrate how their projects will create jobs for Ottawa residents and benefit those who are under-represented in the mainstream economy.
The program awards a total of $280,000 per year, distributed among the proposals that are received and selected. You can read the full eligibility criteria here. Applications are open until Friday, February 9th, at 4PM.
GOVERNOR GENERAL'S FOOT GUARDS YOUTH ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS 2024
Last year the Governor General's Foot Guards (GGFG) inaugurated the GGFG Youth Achievement Awards as a means of giving back to the community that has supported them so well for a century and a half. They are currently seeking nominations and applications for this year's four scholarships.
The objective of these annual awards is to encourage/incentivize deserving youth as they strive to become the model citizens of tomorrow.

Il y a tellement de superbes événements qui se déroulent dans notre quartier! Vous trouverez tous les événements qui ont été soumis à mon bureau au bas de mon bulletin d'information, ou vous pouvez visiter la page des événements sur mon site Web.
J'ai ajouté une page "soumission d'événements" à mon site web. En cliquant sur ce lien, ou en visitant la page des événements sur mon site web, vous pouvez directement remplir toutes les informations nécessaires et télécharger une affiche ou une image. Mon équipe confirmera ensuite votre événement. Veillez à ce que les informations relatives à votre événement soient envoyées avant mercredi. Elles seront ajoutées à mon site web et publiées dans ma lettre d'information hebdomadaire tous les vendredis jusqu'à ce que l'événement ait eu lieu.
Le Centre de Service à la Clientèle de Metcalfe est ouvert le mardi chaque semaine, de 8h30 à 16h00. Les services suivants sont disponibles sur rendez-vous ou sans rendez-vous.
NOUVELLES DE LA COMMUNAUTÉ ET DE QUARTIER
Cette semaine a été l'une des plus calmes, mais elle n'en a pas été moins productive pour autant !
Lundi après-midi, j'ai pu visiter une autre entreprise locale extraordinaire, ici même, dans notre jardin. TG Athletics est une entreprise locale détenue et exploitée par Tony Greco qui combine une richesse de connaissances et une expérience personnelle qui s'étend sur des décennies et se poursuit aujourd'hui en inspirant la prochaine génération d'athlètes, quel que soit leur objectif.
L'entraînement personnel avec l'esprit, le corps et l'âme fait que cette entreprise se démarque des autres avec son incroyable équipe d'entraîneurs. Ce fut un plaisir non seulement de discuter avec lui de son parcours jusqu'à ce niveau, mais aussi de lui remettre un certificat de mon bureau.
Le lendemain, j'ai eu l'occasion d'accueillir ma première porte ouverte de l'année 2024 ! Comme beaucoup d'entre vous le savent sans doute, le mardi après-midi est mon moment préféré de la semaine. Je suis convaincue que ces réunions en face à face sont extrêmement bénéfiques pour la communauté et c'est un honneur pour moi de pouvoir accueillir ces portes ouvertes.
J'ai eu l'occasion de rencontrer un grand nombre de personnes mardi lors du lancement de 2024, et quel début d'année ! Que vous passiez simplement pour dire bonjour ou que vous veniez me voir pour me faire part de vos préoccupations dans la région, j'ai été ravie de voir tout le monde !
Pendant le reste de la semaine, j'ai rencontré le personnel municipal, y compris le directeur général des travaux publics, ainsi que les associations communautaires et les clubs optimistes pour discuter de diverses demandes et de projets à venir dans l'ensemble de la circonscription. J'ai hâte de voir ces projets se concrétiser !
Bien que j'aie apprécié que ces deux dernières semaines aient été un moment agréable, lent et doux pour entrer dans la nouvelle année, j'ai hâte de voir à quel point la semaine prochaine sera chargée avec tous les voyages, les réunions et les événements qui sont prévus.
PROGRAMMES COMMUNAUTAIRES & INSCRIPTION
Comme toujours, il y a tant d'événements et de programmes différents qui se déroulent dans notre quartier ! Beaucoup d'entre eux se trouvent à la fin de ce bulletin, sur notre page Facebook ou sur notre site web.
Nos associations communautaires locales et nos clubs optimistes ont travaillé d'arrache-pied pour organiser des carnavals d'hiver amusants et passionnants pour les différentes communautés de notre quartier. Ne manquez pas de consulter nos événements et leurs pages Facebook pour connaître les événements et les activités qu'ils ont planifiés !
La Bibliothèque publique d'Ottawa a ajouté plusieurs programmes pour enfants pour 2024 en plus de ses programmes réguliers. Jetez un coup d'œil à leur site Web pour voir ce qu'ils offrent !
N'oubliez pas de commander à l'avance vos paniers de fleurs auprès du Lions Club de Greely ! Ces paniers sont fournis localement par la Richmond Nursery et sont toujours magnifiques. En outre, 100 % des bénéfices sont consacrés au soutien des initiatives caritatives du Lions Club de Greely. Les commandes peuvent être passées à tout moment avant la fin du mois de janvier, mais toutes les commandes doivent être payées avant le 31 mars 2024.

ANNONCES DE CONSERVATION DE LA NATION SUD
Nouveau comité consultatif des bassins versants
Êtes-vous intéressé par la conservation et l'intendance de nos terres ? Conservation de la Nation Sud est en train de former un nouveau comité consultatif du bassin versant qui sera composé de 24 membres provenant de diverses municipalités du bassin versant !
Les anciens comités de la Nation Sud (foresterie, poissons et faune, communications et eau propre) verront la plupart de leurs tâches transférées à ce nouveau comité consultatif du bassin versant. Si vous êtes intéressé, vous pouvez consulter le formulaire de candidature et poser votre candidature au comité ici et vous pouvez envoyer votre curriculum vitae et votre formulaire de candidature à ksmith@nation.on.ca.
Consultations publiques : Cartographie des risques naturels
South Nation Conservation organise des consultations publiques sur la cartographie des risques naturels, invitant les résidents à participer à des journées portes ouvertes virtuelles en février 2024. Deux de ces zones cartographiées font partie de la ville d'Ottawa : le bassin versant de Bearbrook et le bassin versant de la rivière Castor.
La réunion sur le bassin versant de Bearbrook aura lieu en ligne le 21 février de 18 h à 19 h, et la réunion sur la rivière Castor aura lieu en ligne le 26 février de 18 h à 19 h. Si vous souhaitez en savoir plus sur le projet de cartographie et poser des questions au personnel de SNC, veuillez consulter le site https://www.nation.on.ca/consultations pour connaître les liens vers les réunions.
OUVERTURE DU PROGRAMME DE FINANCEMENT DU DÉVELOPPEMENT ÉCONOMIQUE COMMUNAUTAIRE
La Ville d'Ottawa accepte maintenant les demandes dans le cadre du Programme de financement du développement économique communautaire. Les subventions sont offertes aux organismes sans but lucratif qui lancent des projets axés sur la création d'emplois et d'entreprises et sur le développement de l'esprit d'entreprise et des compétences en matière d'employabilité. Les candidats retenus devront démontrer comment leurs projets créeront des emplois pour les résidents d'Ottawa et profiteront à ceux qui sont sous-représentés dans l'économie générale.
Le programme accorde un total de 280 000 dollars par an, répartis entre les propositions reçues et sélectionnées. Vous pouvez lire l'intégralité des critères d'éligibilité ici. Les candidatures sont ouvertes jusqu'au vendredi 9 février à 16 heures.
PRIX DE LA JEUNESSE DE LA GARDE À PIED DU GOUVERNEUR GÉNÉRAL 2024
L'année dernière, les Governor General's Foot Guards (GGFG) ont inauguré les GGFG Youth Achievement Awards comme moyen de rendre à la communauté qui les a si bien soutenus pendant un siècle et demi. Ils recherchent actuellement des nominations et des candidatures pour les quatre bourses de cette année.
L'objectif de ces prix annuels est d'encourager et d'inciter les jeunes méritants à devenir les citoyens modèles de demain.
